East Aurora
Arts-and-crafts heritage and one of America's most beloved Main Streets.
East Aurora is the village that other villages aspire to be. Its Main Street – lined with independent shops, cafés, the historic Aurora Theatre, and Vidler’s 5 & 10 – regularly earns national recognition, and the Roycroft Campus keeps the American arts-and-crafts movement alive with working artisans and classes.
The village is also the hometown of Millard Fillmore and the longtime home of Fisher-Price, and it wears its history lightly: beautifully preserved Victorians and bungalows sit on walkable streets shaded by mature maples. East Aurora’s schools are consistently among the region’s best, and community events – from the Carolcade to summer concerts in Hamlin Park – fill the calendar.
Homes here hold their value remarkably well, and inventory is always in demand. Whether you dream of a porch-front Victorian steps from Main Street or a newer home on the village edge, Kunji can help you move quickly and wisely when the right one appears.

A village with a story
The Roycroft Campus, the Arts and Crafts community founded by Elbert Hubbard, was named a National Historic Landmark in 1986 – a rare surviving art colony a short walk from Main Street.
Future president Millard Fillmore lived in East Aurora from 1826 to 1830. The house he built is kept by the Aurora Historical Society at 24 Shearer Avenue and restored to its 1820s appearance. Fisher-Price, founded here in 1930, is still headquartered in the village.
Main Street
Vidler’s 5 & 10 has filled four connected 19th-century buildings on Main Street since 1930, and the Aurora Theatre still lights up its classic neon marquee for first-run films.
Parks and outdoors
Knox Farm State Park – 633 acres of fields, woods and trails that were once the Knox family’s country estate – sits just outside the village in the Town of Aurora.
Buying here: what to know
Homes in the village are often older and walkable to Main Street; the surrounding Town of Aurora offers larger lots and more land. If a home is in or near a historic area, ask whether exterior changes need review before you plan renovations.
Village homes pay village, town, county and school taxes; homes outside the village line do not pay village tax. Compare the full tax bill, not just the price.
