Community Guide
Lancaster
Small-town warmth, strong schools, and room to breathe east of the city.
Lancaster offers the kind of steady, welcoming community that many buyers spend years looking for. The historic village center – with its opera house, local diners, and the beloved Lancaster Speedway nearby – anchors a town of tidy capes, ranches, and newer builds on generous lots.
Families choose Lancaster for its schools, which are consistently ranked among the strongest in Erie County, and for a youth sports and community calendar that keeps weekends full. Como Lake Park, with its trails, sledding hills, and summer concerts, serves as the town’s shared backyard.
Commuters appreciate the quick run into Buffalo via Route 33 or Transit Road, while buyers appreciate that their budget simply goes further here. For sellers, Lancaster’s reputation brings a steady stream of motivated buyers – and Kunji knows how to present a home to meet them.

Neighborhoods and homes
The Village of Lancaster has a classic village center and historic homes on tree-lined streets. Around it, the town offers newer subdivisions with larger yards, while the Village of Depew – which straddles the Lancaster and Cheektowaga town line – adds established neighborhoods close to the airport and the train.
Landmarks and parks
The Lancaster Opera House, built in the 1890s, still serves as town hall and as a working theater – one of only a few town hall opera houses left in the country.
Como Lake Park, a 534-acre Erie County park first established by the village in 1923, has walking paths along Cayuga Creek and a 1933 stone lighthouse. Admission is free and it is open year-round.
Buying here: what to know
Lancaster Central covers about 40 square miles across Lancaster, parts of Cheektowaga and Elma, and part of Depew, so confirm the district for any address. Homes inside the villages pay village taxes in addition to town, county and school taxes.
