Ellicottville

A four-season ski village in the hills of Cattaraugus County.

Ellicottville is a small village in the hills of Cattaraugus County – the Village counted 284 residents at the 2020 Census – that becomes a four-season destination. In winter it is home to two ski areas, Holiday Valley and HoliMont.

Summer brings golf, hiking and mountain biking, and every October the Ellicottville Fall Festival, which celebrated its 50th year in 2026, fills four blocks of the village with an arts and crafts show and chairlift rides.

Four seasons of things to do

Winter belongs to Holiday Valley and HoliMont. The rest of the year brings golf, hiking and lift-served mountain biking, and in October the Ellicottville Fall Festival – named among the top fall festivals in the country by Country Living – turns the village into an arts and crafts show.

Homes

Expect village homes, condos and townhomes near the slopes, and chalets and land in the surrounding hills. Many properties are second homes, and some are rented to visitors.

Buying here: what to know

If you plan to rent to visitors, check village and town short-term rental rules and permits before you buy. Ask about road access and snow removal for hillside homes, and about wells, septic systems and condo or HOA fees where they apply.
